Eric Chu, DDS, MS

Dr. Eric Chu is a Board Certified Periodontist and Bay Area native - attending Mills High School in Millbrae. Dr. Chu has been practicing in Mountain View since 2001, is certified to deliver conscious sedation, and is a Silicon Valley pioneer of LANAP Laser Periodontal Therapy. He is an alumni of U.C. Berkeley receiving degrees in Biology and Economics. Dr. Chu attended dental school at UCLA and received his Periodontal Certificate and Masters Degree from UCSF. Dr. Chu is a former President of the Mid-Peninsula Dental Society and a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Santa Clara Dental Society and Western Society of Periodontists.

Eric and his wife Liza have 3 young children. An avid sports fan, Dr. Chu loves his 49ers and San Francisco Giants.

ShinYoung Ahn, DMD, MS

Dr. ShinYoung (Sarah) Ahn was born in South Korea and grew up in Colombia and Panama, allowing her to be fluent in Spanish. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology and minor in Hispanic Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and later received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine with honors in clinical dentistry.

While practicing as a general dentist in Philadelphia, Dr. Ahn found her passion in periodontics and implant dentistry. She furthered her education to receive her Advanced Certificate in Periodontics and Master of Science in Oral Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Ahn emphasizes the importance of comprehensive approach and collaboration with other dentists to provide the best care to her patients and educate them to make health-conscious decisions.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Ahn enjoys traveling, hiking, watching sports games, and being a foodie with her husband Joon.

Liza Batallones, Vice President and Director of Marketing

Liza Batallones, vice president and director of marketing at Mountain View Perio, oversees the website and patient communications. She also holds advisory roles with Stanford Blood Center in Palo Alto and Samaritan House in San Mateo. Batallones’ professional experience includes positions at the public relations firm Landis Communications in San Francisco. A Bay Area native, she enjoyed a decades-long career as an Emmy Award-winning reporter for KPIX-TV/Channel 5, and KCBS Radio in San Francisco.

Batallones graduated from San Francisco State University with a speech and mass communications degree. She also holds Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certificates from Cornell University. In her free time, Batallones enjoys hiking, listening to live music, and exploring the Bay Area with her husband, Eric, their three children, and two dogs.

Esmeralda Castaneda, Financial Administrator and Office Manager

Esmeralda V. Castaneda brings more than 20 year experience in dental field as a Registered Dental Assistant/Office Manager.

She holds an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts with a minor in Biology, Chemistry and Engineering from De Anza College in Cupertino and a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Southern New Hampshire University.

Esmeralda enjoys volunteering her time for nonprofit programs such as CDA Cares and Give Kids A Smile. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her 2 kids and traveling.
